How the price is calculated
Junk removal is priced by volume: how much of the truck your items fill. A standard junk truck holds about 15 cubic yards, roughly a 12 by 6 foot bed stacked 5 to 6 feet high. The calculator starts with the price of the first quarter load and adds a set amount for each quarter after it, then adds extras like same-day pickup, heavy items or stairs.
At typical US rates a single item or minimum load runs $75 to $150, a quarter load $150 to $250, a half load $300 to $450 and a full truck $450 to $800. Big metros and areas with high dump fees sit at the top of those ranges.
What fits in a load
- Quarter load: a sofa and a few boxes, or a washer, a dryer and a mattress
- Half load: a bedroom set, or a one-car garage with light clutter
- Full load: a packed two-car garage, a small apartment, or a big renovation pile
Not sure? Picture your items in the bed of a pickup truck. One full pickup bed is about a quarter of a junk truck.
What changes the price
Heavy material like concrete, dirt, roofing and tile is often priced by weight, because the dump charges by the ton. Mattresses, tires, refrigerators and TVs carry disposal fees in many counties. Stairs and long carries add labor. Read how much to charge for junk removal and junk removal pricing per load for the full picture.
For junk removal companies
The same calculator goes on your website with your own load prices and add-ons. Customers see your price at 10 p.m. instead of calling three companies, and leads arrive with the job, the load size and the extras they picked.
